The partnership will provide high level Regional Futsal qualifiers throughout North America with qualifying teams earning their berth to compete for a World Title.

The Worlds Futsal Championship take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Facility located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. This 220-acre facility is considered to be one of the most prestigious sporting venues in the world and sees teams from across the globe come together to compete in the world’s largest youth Futsal tournament.

Through this partnership all players will be registered with USSSA and in turn U.S. Soccer. Benefits associated with this include; insurance, as well as rosters and carding, and playing in sanctioned event circuit under USSSA membership with the Federation. The UFA Regional Qualifiers will also feature official certified Futsal Referees who have extensive knowledge of the game and its intricacies.

Most importantly however, is that the UFA Regional Qualifiers will provide a defined pathway to a World Futsal Championships event while also opening the door for both league and tournament play.

The United Futsal Association, which launched in 2010, aims to bring the highest level of Futsal to every coach, player and organization through the facilitation of camps, clinics and seminars in addition to hosting professional and amateur tournaments. UFA also provides consulting support for leagues, facilities and state/regional associations.

Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced small sided soccer game that originates from South America in the 1930s. It is widely played across the world, and is the small sided football format that is officially recognized by both the U.S. Soccer Federation and F.I.F.A.

The nature of the game places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure and is subsequently an excellent breeding ground for soccer competencies that can be translated into the soccer format of the game. Many of the top world class soccer players played Futsal in their youth and credit it with supporting their development. Players of the caliber of Ronaldinho, Kaka, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo to name a few all played and enjoyed Futsal in their youth.

“Global Premier Soccer have been the trendsetters for years in bringing the highest level of soccer from around the world to cities in the North America and abroad,” said Rob Andrews, President of United Futsal Association. “Alongside USSSA and GPS, we are honored to be among the many global partnerships they hold with some of the world’s most prestigious sports brands and look forward to supporting them and USSSA as they enter this new chapter of Futsal in the organization’s already storied history. “

“The partnership with USSSA and United Futsal Association will provide players a unique opportunity to experience futsal in the US and Canada with a focus on both development and elite competition. We are excited to start hosting regional events in North America with qualifying teams getting a bid to the World Futsal Championships” stated James Hamblin, National GPS Tournament Director.

“This agreement brings together three organizations who are focused on being game changers and providing their membership with the best opportunities,” said Craig Scriven, Vice President of USSSA. “We will create a competition circuit and structure which will lead players, teams and their families to a top destination and an even greater event.”

Onward and Upward for Harpo’s FC

The cinderella story for Harpo’s FC continues on, as the Colorado team edged past the BYU Cougar’s in Round One of the 2015 Lamar Hunt Open Cup. Players took the field at 7:30 p.m., MT, before a mountainous backdrop at the BYU Men’s Soccer Complex in Provo, Utah. After ninety minuets of back-and-forth regulation play, the score was locked 0-0. The gridlock continued through 30 minutes of overtime, though both teams created dangerous opportunities throughout. Harpo’s, now lovingly described by Open Cup aficionados as “ The Pub Team,” was outshot 24-12, but through team-wide defensive vigor, they pushed on the PK shootout. Harpo’s keeper Zac Gibbens showed up with a second-slot save against BYU that would swing the momentum in the Pub Team’s favor. Harpo’s put away four PKs, and the shootout concluded 4-2.

In Round Two, Harpo’s will take on USL’s Colorado Springs Switchbacks on Wednesday, May 20th. The interstate matchup, hosted by the Switchbacks’, will kick off at 9:00 p.m., ET. Stay posted for more information.

Get Ready for International Play

Utd Sports Aca

USSSA Soccer is pleased to announce partnership with United Sports Academies, a sports travel organization founded in 1998, run for sports people, by sports people.

“With United Sports Academies, the world is USSSA’s playing grounds,” Bill Fisher, Executive Director of United Sports Academies explained as he regarded the new cooperative between the two associations.

Members of USSSA will now have the opportunity to travel and compete on an international platform with United Sports Academies. The United Sports Academies tailors specific programs and tours based upon each specific sport and team. “International programs are based on the ages of the players, the competitive level of teams, and the goal of traveling abroad from a sporting and cultural standpoint,” said Fisher.

As described by Fisher, every tour provided by United Sports Academy varies both on and off the playing field. The concentration of the global travel is on the individual sporting program (75%) and a positive cultural experience (25%). Oversea tours range from 7 to 21 days, and may include tournament competition, friendly games/exhibitions, clinics and camps and attending professional games. “The cultural component is also very important from quality sightseeing excursions to being able to interact and socialize with the foreign teams and players on the field,” said Fisher.

For individual player development, competing on an international level presents multiple benefits. “Players learn to deal with adversity, whether it be from officiating to a challenging atmosphere in an arena or on the field to dealing with off field distractions. Players learn the importance of being able to adapt on and off the field and the importance of staying focused on the task, competing with American pride,” Fisher contends. He continues, “Through sport the world is made smaller, different cultures are brought together, we gain a much better understanding and compassion for one another. Sport is the language of the world.”

“This opportunity and program has been a goal of mine for some time and I am excited to see it start to develop,” said Vice President, Craig Scriven. “Our member teams, clubs, and leagues now have an excellent organization which can organize an experience of a lifetime.”

United Sports Academies management staff has over 28 years of experience and has traveled to over 26 countries to uphold their mission to ‘dedicate and provide teams and organizations with the best possible, highest quality international travel and competition experience, both on and off the field.’ Through their quality, excellence and dedication, United Sports Academies has developed a first-class reputation.
